This guided tour will give attendees a firsthand look at how wastewater is treated and safely returned to the environment. As Durham's southern wastewater treatment plant, the facility plays an important role in managing wastewater from homes, businesses, and industries throughout southern Durham.

Attendees will have the opportunity to explore the facility and see how wastewater moves through multiple treatment processes before being safely discharged back into the environment.

Attendees will gain insight into:

• How wastewater is treated at the facility

• The different stages of the wastewater treatment process

• How treated water is safely returned to the environment

• The role wastewater treatment facilities play in supporting growing communities

• A firsthand look at the infrastructure behind wastewater management

This tour is designed to provide valuable perspective for developers, engineers, builders, environmental professionals, and other land professionals interested in understanding the wastewater infrastructure that supports community growth and development.

Attire Requirements: All attendees must wear clothing that covers the shoulders and torso, along with sturdy, closed-toe shoes. Sandals, flip-flops, and high heels are not permitted during facility tours. Please dress accordingly to comply with facility safety requirements.
