This session, “Survey: Introduction to Land Survey Equipment & Workflow,” will feature Perry Gerard, PLS of Thomas & Hutton and will provide a practical overview of how survey data is collected, processed, and used to support engineering and construction projects.

The discussion will walk through the full survey workflow—from field data collection to final deliverables—highlighting the tools, technology, and processes that support accurate and efficient project execution.

Attendees will gain insight into:
• Common survey equipment including total stations, GPS/GNSS receivers, and levels
• How survey crews collect positions, distances, elevations, and site conditions
• How data is stored, transferred, and managed between field and office
• How raw data is processed into maps, drawings, and 3D models
• How surveyors research deeds, plats, and public records to guide fieldwork

This session is designed to give attendees a clear, practical understanding of surveying workflows and how they support successful project development.
