From Boundaries to Buildout: The Role of Survey

  • WGI 4700 Mueller Boulevard Austin, TX, 78723 United States (map)

Join us on April 16, 2026, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM (CDT) for an Austin Chapter Lunch & Learn hosted by WGI.

This session will feature Coleen Johnson of WGI, Inc., Director of Geospatial, and will focus on the role of survey throughout the life cycle of a development project.

From early entitlements to final closeout, survey plays a critical role in shaping how projects move from concept to construction and beyond. Coleen will walk through how survey professionals contribute at each phase of development and why early engagement can significantly improve coordination, accuracy, and project outcomes.

Attendees will gain insight into:

  • The role of survey during early-stage entitlements and land planning

  • How surveys support tract development and subdivision layout

  • Survey involvement during construction and infrastructure installation

  • The role of survey in project closeout and long-term neighborhood maintenance

  • How survey impacts day-to-day development decisions and project efficiency

This session is designed to help developers, engineers, planners, and consultants better understand how survey integrates into the broader development process and why it is essential from the earliest stages of a project.

Lunch Provided. RSVP Required.
